Back to Church

The building on Mountain Road that was distinguishable for several years by having an airplane on its roof, is now again housing a church.  Built in the nineteen sixties by the Glad Tidings congregation of the Pentecostal Assemblies, it became the site of various businesses after Glad Tidings outgrew it and moved on to their present location.

Water & Wine Assembly of Christians are now leasing the main floor of the building, having outgrown their former location at 1120 Berry Mills Road.  This will be the sixth move for this congregation since their beginning in 1996, including meeting for 6 years at the Coverdale Centre, Riverview, and 5 years at the Berry Mills location.

Water & Wine, led by Pastors David and Marilyn Britton, are excited to be on Mountain Road, and will be dedicating their new location on Nov. 23 at 1:30pm.  Pastors and friends for other congregations are invited to join them in the celebration, as the sanctuary is re-dedicated to God.

This rather formal press release was sent to the press announcing our recent move to a new facility, but it fails to express our excitement over our new location.  This building, which was built by the Glad Tidings Pentecostal Assembly, has been used for various businesses, including a furniture store, a sports bar, a restaurant, and presently has a club in the basement.

While we enjoyed the uniqueness of our former location in a Quonset hut and machine shop, we found it to be increasingly limiting to our activities.  That was joined by our desire to incarnate Christ into the community, and the practical aspect of that meant being in a residential area.

Although we will no longer be able to brag that we have the largest garage door of all the sanctuaries in the city, we will retain our zest for celebration and creativity.  With more washroom facilities and larger floor space we will be able to accommodate more people.  And, although it is non-operational, we now have the largest bar of all the churches in the city.

Though we have been using the building, we have renovations to make and painting to do, but we don’t want to wait until all that is done before we have a service of celebration and dedication of the building.

We are celebrating the re-dedication of our new facility on Nov. 23rd at 1:30pm.  Pastor Paul Pattison, of Glad Tidings will represent the founding congregation as we re-dedicate the original intention of the builders .  Our musicians and dancers are preparing for this special event.  Worship will be led by associate pastor Dan Britton.  Light refreshments will be part of the celebration.  We invite you to come out and join with us in this joyous time.

Together with you in His service,
David and Marilyn Britton, Sr. Pastors
